Ada Lovelace Day is a great opportunity to celebrate and raise the profile of women in STEM careers past, present, and future (though really, we should be celebrating this every day.) It’s important to also remember that with innovations in technology come innovations in the arts as well. The advent of digital technology has completely transformed music culture, and indeed the basic sound of music itself.

In honor of Ada Lovelace Day, we’ve collected a few choice songs by female pioneers in the field of electronic music, plus a few contemporary artists. It’s a collection of the well-known (like Delia Derbyshire’s iconic Doctor Who theme song), the obscure, the beautiful, the catchy, and the boundary-pushing.

Enjoy!
