Announcing Melville House’s new Academic Resources page
by Claire Kelley
From Hans Fallada’s Little Man, What Now? in German History classes, to Stuffed and Starved by Raj Patel in International Development courses, and David Graeber’s Debt on Anthropology syllabi, Melville House books are being taught in classrooms across the country and around the globe. At the Modern Language Association and the Association of Writers and Writing Programs conferences, we’ve heard that titles in our Art of the Novella series are key texts in classes designed to celebrate the novella form and that our new translations are taught in a range of literature and language courses.
Today we’re launching the brand new Melville House Academic Resources page, where we invite professors and teachers to explore a range of ways to stay up date on the Melville House books being taught in classes, and forthcoming titles in a variety of subject areas. The diagram below illustrates how to use the website, which offers the following:
- A newsletter sign-up page, with subject category preferences for new book alerts
- Desk and examination copy request forms
- A link to the Melville House catalog on Edelweiss for digital review copies for academics
- Subject pages with featured books recommended by professors
- Common reading suggestions for community reads and freshman experience programs
- Available teaching guides and subject brochures
- A schedule of upcoming conferences where Melville House will be exhibiting or will have books on display
Are you teaching any Melville House books in your courses? Let us know!
