Book DMC

I was in Other Music the other night behind a dude of about my age who was buying The Secret Dub Life of the Flying Lizards, a group from my own time, about which the very tall, younger-by-about-twenty-years dude behind the counter was raving.

I had scanned the remainders stacks and was buying Muddy WatersComplete Plantation Recordings. Playing in the store was the debut LP [as in “Long Playing”] from the Philly duo Reading Rainbow, called Prism Eyes.

When I got home I looked them up and discovered what you will already know: the band shares its name with a PBS children’s program that ran from 1983 to 2006 (explaining why I never heard of it.)

I had already been convinced about books but if I hadn’t been, maybe guest appearances from Flavor Flav or this one from Run DMC might have done the trick:
