FBI called in on Borders bomb case

by

As if things weren’t bad enough for Borders — a too-brief Associated Press wire story says two “crude” explosive devices were found planted in a Borders store in a mall in Golden Colorado, a Denver suburb, on Saturday morning, after police responded to a report of a break-in. Apparently, at least one of the devices went off, causing “minimal damage to a small area inside the store,” but no injuries. The article does not clarify who reported the break-in, or whether there was anyone in the store at the time.

The FBI has been called in, but no arrests have been made yet, and the story doesn’t report whether anyone has any idea as to motive.

Subsequently, a local television report from later yesterday includes footage of the minimal damage inside the store, and confirms that one of the devices “partially exploded.” It also adds that police found a “third item” somehow related to the case. See below, and sorry for the commercial.

Meanwhile, police aren’t giving anything else up, says the report, including surveillance camera footage they supposedly have of the suspects.
