Harry Potter themes are now a trend in the American wedding industry

Screen shot 2015-01-21 at 8.21.09 PMThis week the New York Post reported that an amateur jeweler had to temporarily shut down her Etsy shop after receiving too many orders for her Harry Potter “Golden Snitch” engagement ring that had been featured on Buzzfeed.

We can no longer hide from the truth. Now that Harry Potter fans who were just kids when the books came out are old enough to get married, the series has now become inspiration for weddings—an industry that generates forty billion dollars each year.

So when considering how to propose, a list suggests ideas that include hiding a ring in a Harry Potter book or traveling to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando.

Blogs offer lots of inspiration for the main wedding event, but also a word of caution:

Pulling off a theme wedding is difficult — especially when it comes to Harry Potter. There’s a fine line between classy and looking like an 8-year-old’s birthday party.

Good point! Fortunately, if you have just the right combination of “handmade paperback and comic book flowers, cauldrons, medieval sculptures, potion bottles and stacks of books (Harry Potter of course!)”— the wedding might just be magical as floo powder.
