Boulder Bookstore

Boulder Book Store in Colorado was one of the recipients of a third round of grants from bestselling author James Patterson to independent bookstores across the country.

James Patterson issued $473,000 in grants to independent bookstores this week—the third time the bestselling author has given out a round of funding as part of his million-dollar #SaveOurBooks campaign.

This latest round includes grants to bookstores including 57th Street Books in Chicago, Boulder Book Store in Colorado, Powell’s in Portland, WORD Bookstore in Brooklyn, Women & Children First in Chicago and One More Page Books in Arlington, VA. See the full list below.

In Oxford, Mississipi, Square Books will receive$9,700 for a Teens Read book fair next May that’ll put about 600 copies of a selected book in the hands of 12- to 16-year-olds, plus bring in the book’s author, bookstore owner Richard Howorth said.”

According to the Associated Press, Left Bank Books in St. Louis “plans to install a security system and possibly update its phones” and the Strand in New York “is looking to sponsor field trips that will bring in students from low income neighborhoods.”

David Boulduc, owner of Boulder Bookstore in Colorado, praised Patterson in The Denver Post: “It’s very generous… It’s really something how authors support physical bookstores. This is a guy who puts his money where his mouth is.”
