According to an Associated Press wire story by Michael Graczyk, Friedman is running for governor of Texas. The author of Kill Two Birds and Get Stoned and the former leader of the rock band Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys, is running under the slogan “Kinky for Governor — Why the Hell Not?” He tells the AP, “You can say it’s a joke if you want. I would say the most recent joke was the last gubernatorial election — $100 million to destroy each other, to make us vote for the lesser evil.”
