LA Times on Dave Tompkins

by

In case you missed it, The Los Angeles Times last week carried a rave review of How To Wreck A Nice Beach and an interview with its author, Dave Tompkins. The book is available from Melville House/Stop Smiling.

A clip from the review, by music writer Jeff Weiss:

How to Wreck a Nice Beach [is a] megillah of maniacs, militarists and disco mustaches. It is the only book you will read in this lifetime with epigraphs from “The Simpsons” and Poison Clan, ruminations on Vincent Price imitating Oscar Wilde and oblique Arrested Development references.

It’s unquestionably brilliant, not only one of the best music books of the year, but also one of the best music books ever written.

Kelly Burdick is the executive editor of Melville House.
