Next year will be the London Book Fair‘s last year at the Earls Court convention center. LBF will take place in West London at the Olympia convention center in April 2015, and will presumably meet there for years to come.

Originally opened in 1886, and then known as the National Agricultural Hall, Olympia features four event centers and a conference hall. The exhibition space is run by the same company as Earls Court, EC&O. Earls Court is going through some redevelopment, according to The Bookseller, and the much-discussed ExCeL conference venue in East London was deemed too small after a “disastrous event” in 2006. Olympia is, quite conveniently, just under a mile from Earls Court.

Jacks Thomas, director of LBF, said, “We have listened long and hard to those who participate in The London Book Fair and, while it is sad that Earls Court is unlikely to form part of the London exhibition venue mix, we fully appreciate the great affection the industry has for West London and believe that moving to Olympia is currently the right move for the publishing industry.”

We have no factual verification for this, but we will bet you five dollars some savvy industry professionals booked their hotels for 2015 as soon as this news was announced.

Additionally, LBF has announced it will launch London Book and Screen Week in 2014, April 7 to April 11. (The book fair is part of this event, taking place from April 8 to April 10.) Since they’re trying to expand their multimedia offerings, next year’s fair will include new feature pavilions in Brand Licensing, Gaming and Comics, and enhanced TV and film content offering.
