Pizza expert searches for box that is said to have prevented government shutdown

by

A search for the Pizza Boli box begins.

Scott Wiener, author of Viva la Pizza!: The Art of the Pizza Box, which will be published by Melville House next month, was intrigued when he saw the New York Post headline “Did Pizza End the Government Shutdown?

As the founder of Scott’s Pizza Tours and an all-around enthusiastic and adamant supporter of pizza, he would be the first to believe in its power to solve conflicts, put people in a good mood, and make the world a better place. But photographic evidence of an aide pushing a cart stacked with pizza to the office of Speaker of the House John Boehner at the Capitol in Washington on Tuesday night was proof that pizza can also prevent a global economic meltdown.

“I need that box!” Scott exclaimed when he saw the photo.

As an award-winning expert about pizza and the proud owner of the world’s largest pizza box collection, he is now on a mission to find a box from Pizza Boli, the Washington D.C. area chain who has claimed responsibility for helping to “avert disaster.”

“To some people it’s just a piece of garbage,” Scott said when reached for comment. “But to me it’s a piece of America’s political history.”
