Please form an orderly, single-file line

In a fundraising email sent to supporters yesterday, presidential candidate Michele Bachmann offered signed copies of her forthcoming memoir, Core of Conviction, My Story. A stampede ensued as bibliophiles, collectors, and Tea Party faithful raced to place orders before stock disappeared. Catalina Camia reported in USA TODAY that autographed copies of the candidate’s debut, already ranked 1,086 on Amazon.com,  are available for just $75.00. A copy with a more personalized, heartfelt, inscription from the crusading tax lawyer who wants to eliminate taxes and create jobs but not for tax lawyers is a still reasonable $125.00.

The congresswoman, mistakenly elected by Minnesotans in 2006, writes “This book will reinforce what you, as one of my strongest supporters already know; our country is in dire need of new leadership, and I am the true conservative in this race who has the leadership and experience necessary to turn our economy and government around.”

Core of Conviction will be published November 21st by Sentinel, the opportunistic “right of center” imprint of Peguin Group (USA) that published previous failed presidential candidate, former governor and bestselling author Mike Huckabee.

Last week, on the Liberty Rising: An American Majority Publication website, founder Ned Ryun created a tempest within the Tea Party pot when he wrote “It’s time for Michele Bachmann to go…. as the campaign works to hold on to its more conservative base of support in advance of the release of Bachmann’s new book next month…. it is clear that the campaign has become less about reform and more about her personal effort to stay relevant and sell books.”

Your Moby reporter found these signed editions by the other Republican presidential candidates for sale on AbeBooks.com (Jon Huntsman, Jr., the only one of the candidates to endorse the theory of evolution, has not yet published a book, providing perhaps more evidence that he is the most trustworthy and reasonable of a mostly unreasonable field.)
