SLIDESHOW: Treasures found in books
by Claire Kelley
There are a couple great blogs and tumblrs dedicated to forgotten bookmarks, but at Unnameable Books in Brooklyn, proprietor Adam Tobin has dedicated a wall in the back of the shop near the register to the ephemera he has found in books.
This slideshow gives you a glimpse of some of these treasures.
“I take pleasure in advising you of your appointment by the Board of Trustees as Assistant Adjunct Pediatric Psychiatrist.”
“I’m only reading it now, months after the fact, because… Well because I never open my mail anymore.”
“We live not, in reality, on the summit of a solid earth but at the bottom of an ocean of air. p.22”
“I don’t feel like writing in Latin. Did you receive my other letter (in Latin)?”
“27 Valuable Oriental Carpets Stolen from a Mansion on L.I.”
“I have found them very useful for quick entertainment purposes, by superimposing the gag lines.”
“Missing in England: Virginia Woolf Believed Drowned”
“P.S.S. Hope you exept half teef.”
