Stephen Colbert mocks Ted Cruz coloring book
by Julia Fleischaker
Who better than Senator Ted Cruz to teach your kids about principles and values? At least that’s the theory behind Really Big Coloring Books, Inc.’s Ted Cruz to the Future™ – Comic Coloring Activity Book. The book is the latest in their “Tell The Truth – Tell it Often – Tell the Children” series. The publisher’s website calls it a “non-partisan, fact-driven view” of Cruz’s journey to becoming a Senator, and goes on to hail Cruz as a “rejuvenation for the Tea Party” and a “superhero” to many.
When Stephen Colbert got hold of the coloring book on “The Colbert Report,” he was predictably merciless. He joked that the perfect accompaniment to the book is a 64 pack of white crayons, and praised the inclusion of kid-friendly topics like partial-birth abortion. When he quotes from the book, it has to be heard to be believed.
As of Thursday night, Cruz to the Future was the #1 children’s coloring book on Amazon.
