Superman: the Man of Steel, a shining example of justice and honor, and, apparently, a sexist dolt at times. HappyPlace has posted a series of seventeen vintage Superman comic books that show him treating Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen cruelly, charging money for his good deeds, and seeking to vanquish his latest foe … Pat Boone.

It should be noted that several of the incidents depicted on these covers turn out to be dream sequences or imagined stories, but it’s still jarring to see such an iconic do-gooder acting like a massive jerk. It is also worth noting that the comic whose plot involves reporter Jimmy Olsen marrying a gorilla is, per this synopsis from Gorilla Daze (naturally), all too real.
