The world's "most mysterious book" was written between 1404 and 1438

by

The Voynich Manuscript, a book written in an unknown and undecipherable language and illustrated with images of biological specimens, astrological diagrams, and nude woman bathing in a complex system of pool and pipes, has been carbon-dated by physicists at the University of Arizona to be from the early 15th-century (via The Huffington Post, via Fox News). The book is named after the Polish-Lithuanian bibliophile Wilfrid Michael Voynich who discovered the book in 1912 in a Jesuit collection of ancient manuscripts. Numerous attempts to decipher the book using computer analysis and cryptology techniques have failed.
