TONIGHT: Jean-Christophe Valtat in conversation with Laura Miller at BookCourt

by

What is steampunk? Is it important? Does genre have an important role in literary culture? Or is genre troublesome, as Soren Kierkegaard may have unintentionally implied when he wrote that “Once you label me you negate me.”

On the eve of his second steampunk festival in so many weeks, Jean-Christophe Valtat will sit down with one of the nation’s greatest literary critics, Lara Miller of Salon.com, to discuss exactly those questions.

So don your goggles and dust off your literary criticism and join us at the legendary BookCourt bookstore to take in this fascinating discussion. Copies of Aurorarama and The Magician’s Book will be on hand to purchase and have signed after the event.

TONIGHT:
Thursday, May 17th

7pm
Book Court
163 Court St.
Brooklyn, NY 11201
