Twitter reveals how librarians are preparing for #ALAMW14
by Claire Kelley
As snow drifted down across the Northeast, librarians took to Twitter Tuesday night to share their excitement for the American Library Association Midwinter Conference in Philadelphia this weekend. From skis, to tattoos, to zines, here’s a list of a few things librarians are looking forward to in Philly and what they’re doing to prepare:
1. Getting Tattoos
A retweet from LOL Librarian on the Loose alerted me to the fact that Philadelphia Eddies Chinatown Tattoo, the oldest tattoo parlor in the city, is offering librarian discounts for tattoos during ALA Midwinter.
2. Planning footwear choices
Some librarians felt wearing snow boots will be necessary to brave the walk from the hotel to the conference hall, while others decided the snow accumulation called for snowshoes and skis.
3. Making zines
Who knew? There’s usually a zine swap spot in the conference hall and zine events at night.
4. Taking pictures of snow
Sometimes it’s hard to resist snapping a quick one.
5. Drinking Coffee
I know ALA coordinators must be in a tizzy of final plans and are probably too busy to care, but that does not look like coffee.
Maybe ALALeftBehind Cat says it best:
