In the video below, legendary Iranian writer Mahmoud Dowlatabadi discusses the background to his masterpiece, Missing Soluch, and describes why he writes about what he writes about. We post the interview — conducted by translator Kamran Rastegar at Dowlatabadi’s home in Tehran– as part of our celebration not only of Dowlatabadi’s ground-breaking Soluch, but also as part of our lead-up to our forthcoming publication of his newest novel, currently banned in Iran, The Colonel.
