Word of George Bush’s impending relocation to London still largely unknown to Brits ….

by

Praise the Lord! With your election finally in sight, we curious Brits can look forward to having our airwaves, and indeed our brains, back. Don’t get me wrong –– I, too, have a crush on Barrack Obama and a sick fascination with Sarah Palin, and I can’t help being fascinated by every twist and turn -–- but at the moment our papers are averaging 10% of news space devoted to the minutia of the campaign trail. Well, that’s my unscientific estimate, anyway. Add that to following the forums on CNN and ABC (some of you guys are very scary), reading anxiously about voter fraud and watching Newsnight’s near blanket coverage, and it’s fairly clear that obsessives like myself don’t have time for much else at the moment. Still, there are some benefits to this wholesale media hijacking: Someone at the Guardian Review managed to persuade Lorrie Moore to write a short story — “Foes” — around the election, which you can read here.
