Writing in a Digital Age conference announced

by

Just before Christmas, MobyLives featured an interview with Rebecca Swift, founder of The Literary Consultancy (TLC), about the various ways a writer might land themselves a publishing deal today. Publishing Perspectives reports today on the recently announced first-ever TLC conference, Writing in a Digital Age, which will take place at London’s Free Word Centre on 8th/9th June. Anyone looking to get signed or interested in developments in the literary industry—that’s everyone here, right?— could do far worse than check this out. Sophie Rochester—founder of The Literary Platform and a speaker at the event—points out:

Too often the writer’s perspective is under-represented at digital publishing events.  At Writing in a Digital Age, writers will share their experiences with other writers, putting them at the centre of the debate.

We’ve reported several times on Moby about the potential hazards of self-publishing with, say, I don’t know, a company like Amazon. There’s a world of opportunity for authors now, but there’s also very little guidance and rather a lot of unscrupulous souls. Any event that seeks to redress that balance gets our vote.
