A Book and A Breakfast

by

Croissant breakfast, mmmmm.

Croissant breakfast. Mmmmm.

Here’s a novel idea for a charity event. The French website ActuaLitté reports that the publisher “Les Éditions Les 400 Coups has launched a campaign in partnership with The Breakfast Club of Québec, on April 27, with the simple theme: buy books to provide food for those in need.”

The idea is that for every book sold, the publisher will donate a certain percentage of the sale to The Breakfast Club—an organization, according to their website, dedicated “to offer all children the chance to have a nutritious breakfast before going to class.”

The program hopes to raise awareness of child hunger among book buyers, and at the same time enable buyers to do something positive for children in their community. Most Quebec bookstores are participating in the program, which will be running through September 30th. The publisher has announced that the books offered in this promotion have already becomes bestsellers. Voilà, petit dejeuner all ’round!
