Amy Poehler’s audio book is out on vinyl?

by

Here’s a publishing stunt you don’t see every day: HarperCollins is releasing Amy Poehler‘s audio book on vinyl. Yes, Please will be out on September 1.

Vinyl! The future of print.

It’s not clear how many copies of the limited edition are available, but the record boasts some guest stars in the unabridged recording, including Carol Burnett, Seth Meyers, Michael Schur, Patrick Stewart, Kathleen Turner, and Amy Poehler’s parents.

The copy is pretty tongue-in-cheek:

Record may be listened to during parties, “me” time, and while giving birth. Record shall not be listened to while walking near mall water fountains…. The author would like to thank you from the bottom of her heart for buying this record so she can continue to buy fancy washcloths.

How many fancy washcloths do you earn with an audiobook release… on vinyl? Well, if you were going to take a bet, it may as well be on a celebrity author with a young-ish following. HarperCollins, like many publishers, continues to throw spaghetti at the wall until a strand sticks.
