Michael Steele, national chairman of the Republican Party, says he has no thoughts of quitting despite criticism and calls for his resignation over his recent bookm Right Now: A 12-Step Program for Defeating the Obama Agenda.  An Associated Press wire story reports that the book “takes shots at the GOP” and “accuses GOP leaders of abandoning conservative principles over the past decade.”

Steele is, however, “apologizing for not alerting Republicans in advance about the book’s release.”  A Washington Post report says that in response to GOP leaders calling for him to step down, Steele says, “I am in this chair. If they want it, take it from me. Until then, shut up …..”
