Experts forecast that indies will overtake conglmerate sales within three hundred and seventy seven years

Indie publishers in the UK “have gained overall market share from their larger competitors by five percentage points over the last half-decade,” according to a report in The Bookseller by Catherine Neilan. Interestingly enough, indies saw themselves “increasing sales through all channels except the internet, which was flat.” The biggest growth was — natch — in indie bookstores, where sales rose dramatically, from 38% of the total to 49%. On the other hand, in chains the increase was marginal, from 20% to 21%
