Irma Boom on book design: "I’m always looking for that specific book for that specific moment."

by

Via a post by Suzanne Lebarre at FastCoDesign.com, we found the following video about the renowned Dutch book designer Irma Boom.

In 2007 Boom won “The Most Beautiful Book in the World” at the Leipzig Book Fair for a book she made for American artist Sheila Hicks titled Weaving as Metaphor. Her work has also been exhibited at MOMA and is now in their permanent collection.

“I’m mad about books but I hate handmade books,” Boom says in the video. “They have to be industrially made….Books are made to spread information. They’re reproductions so they should be distributed around the world in multiples.”
