I’ve been researching an American socialite who boinked everyone with a stiffie in the 1930s and turned into a Soviet spy. Her name was Martha Dodd, and she nailed Gestapo heads, Luftwaffe Generals, Carl Sandburg and Thomas Wolfe. Dated Hitler once, nothing happened. Ahem. Anyway her and her best friend in Berlin, Mildred Fish Von Harnack also a Soviet Spy, but also working for us while she could. A great heroine, Her spy ring tried desperately to warn Stalin of an upcoming Nazi invasion. But he would not listen. Ultimately she got caught and ultimately executed.

Anyway Martha Dodd and Mildred von Harnack were apparently great friends with Falada and visited him many times.

Falada paid the price. Mildred von Harnack also did, Martha Dodd went back to the states, had sex with many men while continuing to betray America. The FBI had their eyes on her for ten years and woulda caught her, if the McCarthy people didn’t screw up everything. MArtha got away, escaped to PRague where she lived until her dodgy death about this time 1990.

My next book gonna be about her.
