New Kindle to include button that vaporizes feelings of regret for having bought Kindle introduced just last month

More news about today’s announcement of the Super-Sized Kindle from the Wall St. Journal: It will include “features designed to appeal to periodical and academic textbook publishers,” according to a report by Geoffrey A. Fowler and Ben Worthen.

They say five schools — Case Western Reserve University, Pace, Princeton, Reed, Darden School at the University of Virginia, and Arizona State — are involved in something called a “Kindle Project.” At Case Western, for example, the program will see students being “given large-screen Kindles with textbooks for chemistry, computer science and a freshman seminar already installed, said Lev Gonick, the school’s chief information officer. The university plans to compare the experiences of students who get the Kindles and those who use traditional textbooks, he said.”

Meanwhile, “Amazon has worked out a deal with several textbook publishers to make their materials available for the device.”

In addition, “The new device will also feature a more fully functional Web browser.”
