Penguin issues pubic statement

by

Penguin has issued another pubic statement, attempting to mortify critics after its first response to the discovery that a recipe in its book The Pasta Bible called for the addition of “freshly ground black people” only seemed to give the incident a whole new dementia. Unfortunately, though, the nude statement only seems to maintain the altitude expressed previously, when Penguin Australia chef executive officer Bob Sessions called complainers “simple-minded.”

Now, says Penguin, “there was obviously no intent behind this mistake — it was simply a regrettable error.” What’s more, “Penguin would also like to point out that it maintains the highest of standards throughout the editing process, hence a mistake such as this is a very rare occurrence.”

Penguin also insisted once again that it’s hotter to proofread cookbooks than other books: “Normally such an error would be picked up by proof readers, but they would have been concentrating on checking quantities, a common source of error in cookbooks.”

In short, says the statement, “Shirt happens.”
