Survey: Fifty Shades of Grey influencing the way people have sex

by

It only makes sense, given the numbers: A survey says Fifty Shades of Greythe book selling over a million copies per week — is influencing the way lots of people now have sex.

Okay, the survey was conducted by an online “adult” bookstore, but as a story from gossip site Female First reports, “three quarters of the respondents had acted out sex practice that they had watched or read about.” And out of what people were watching or reading, “Fifty Shades of Grey was the winner when it came to influencing sex lives, with 39 per cent of respondents putting it top of their list.”

According to the report,

Chris Simms, MD of Bondara says, “We’ve noticed a massive increase in demand for adult toys recently, particularly those featured in popular books and shows.

“Sales of Ben-Wa balls, which are featured in Fifty Shades of Grey, have increased by over 400% since the book’s launch.

“People are becoming much more comfortable with sex and we’re finding that they are willing to try much more than ever before.

“We’ve had a large surge in customers buying bondage gear, particularly blindfolds and restraints – who’d have thought they would become mainstream items found in suburban bedrooms across the world.”

Well, it should be no surprise that porno books are inspiring, well, pornographic events. Historically, they always have. But what about real literature — or at least, something short of out and out pornography — impacting sex lives?

Sparing us the raunchy deatils: What book most, or first, influenced your sex life?
