Tiger gets a grip

by

Who’d a thunk it? A book angle in the Tiger Woods self-destruct story. No, this is not about all the relevant parties selling what passes for their souls to HarperCollins books for seven figure advances. No, it’s something sort of endearingly human amid the sordid debris of this story ….

According to this report report in the Guardian, “A series of pictures released by Florida police of Woods’s wrecked SUV includes a shot of the back seat, complete with waterbottle, towel and furled umbrella. But there among the shards of tinted glass in the footwell sits a well-thumbed copy of a paperback with the golf-appropriate title clearly visible: Get a Grip on Physics.

And guess what? As a result, Get a Grip on Physics by Sussex University (UK) professor John Gribbin shot up the Amazon ranks to 2,268, as the Wall Street Journal observed in this report. The Journal also quotes the UK prof quipping about why Tiger was reading his book in the first place, “The obvious speculation is he saw the words ‘get a grip’ and thought it would help with his golf grip.”

Oh really, give Tiger some credit. Ask any golf nut and they’ll tell you, “Its all about vectors! Vectors!”
