Samuel L. Jackson presents the Best Play award at last week's Tony Awards ceremony

The amazing Go the Fuck to Sleep phenomenon continues, spreading now from a print and electronic sensation into an audio sensation last week, according to an Associated Press wire story from Friday. It says Audible announced its audio version of the book from small indie Akashic — read by Samuel L. Jackson — was downloaded 160,000 times in its first 48 hours of release. (See Cassie Langridge‘s earlier MobyLives report about the audio version by not only Jackson, but Werner Herzog.)

According to the AP report, “It’s a huge number for audiobooks, but not a record. The final Harry Potter book, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,’ sold more than 200,000 audio copies during its first 48 hours.”

Meanwhile the print book has remained at number one on the Amazon bestseller list pretty much nonstop since its release last Tuesday.
