Sam's not done yet

by

A mysterious letter writer in Iowa — mysterious in that we here at Melville House haven’t been able to find out anything about him — has written another letter to an Iowa newspaper castigating Dick Cheney and the Bush administration’s endorsement of torture, and suggesting that to understand the “hideous quagmire” this might lead to, “one might read the late Hans Fallada‘s novel about his life in Nazi Germany, Every Man Dies Alone.”

After writing a similar letter to the Des Moines Register (see this earlier MobyLives report), Sam Osborne writes this time to the West Branch Times, Osborne says, “If there is no difference between us and our enemy, it makes no difference who prevails.”

Hmmm … Every Man is about a relentless letter writing campaign … is Sam Osborne taking inspiration from it to launch his own campaign? Sam, take a sec to drop us a line, too, and tell us where to send you a sandwich or something.
