Which bookshelf are you?

by

New York artist Jane Mount has been painting bookshelves for the past three years. No, I don’t mean she’ll come to your house and refinish your IKEA Billy Bookcase. I mean that she’s been immortalizing shelves of books: over 75. Each shelf is a different sort of “ideal” bookshelf, put together, it seems, to reflect varying personalities. There are shelves you expect (a shelf of all cookbooks, of all Penguin classics, of just THE classics) and then there are the shelves you don’t. One ranges from Doris Kearns Goodwin to Bob Dylan, another one from the Twilight trilogy to Richard Russo. Which begs the question… which shelf are you?
